Fire & Ice organizers request that all revelers read this short backstory before entering the world of Zhora and the Snake Pit Bar on Wednesday night:
“Zhora” is a future fiction depicting the world circa 2050, as imagined from an observer in the 1980s. In this non-internet world, Zhora asks what will the future hold, and answers it without the benefit of the past 35 years of technological progression. Welcome to a future bereft of the social, political and cultural democracy that resulted from the connectivity of the internet.
The world has suffered Nuclear war, and in the wake of the disaster, the world governments had decided to merge into one all governing body. Technology has rendered 95% of the population jobless, and thus resigned to a neo-communistic lower class, with no hope of upward mobility or personal liberation.
State-sponsored narcotics, android prostitution, and extreme propaganda are the new tools of oppression for the poor.
However, at Zhora you join the 1% of the world’s Uber-Elite, who fill their lives with the lavish and depraved thrills that can only be fully enjoyed knowing that the end of civilization is neigh.
The Snake Pit Bar
The Snake Pit bar is an oasis where the Elite gather. The Snake Pit Bar is the most fashionable in the Megatropolis, and the clientele use it as a venue to do things they wouldn’t dare do in the view of the state – Snake Pit Bar management is happy to oblige.
