This was announced by Jeffrey Buttigieg, Director of MiGS and the COO of RE/MAX Malta during a press conference together with The Malta Gaming Authority Executive Chairman, Joseph Cuschieri.

Addressing the media conference, Mr Buttigieg said: “We are delighted to host the 8th edition of the Malta iGaming Seminar, a seminar which started as a local event aimed at educating foreign investors to relocate to Malta and now has become an international event where delegates and speakers converge to discuss, network and debate regulatory gaming policy, latest trends and technology of the global gaming industry.”

Mr Buttigieg added that the event will be hosted by AJ Thompson, an iGaming veteran and two of the world’s leading experts in Global Gaming, Michael Caselli and Sue Schneider. MIGS16 will be spread over a three-day programme covering topics from regulatory and taxation to eSports, virtual currencies and block chain, player retention and many more. Several renowned experts have already confirmed their participation and the organisers will very shortly be announcing the participation of yet another high-level keynote speaker.

I believe that MiGS is an ideal platform for all those who are involved in the remote gaming industry to network, learn and share relevant information and knowledge.”

Mr Michael Pedersen, the Regional Business Manager of NetEnt, announced that this year the organisers of MiGS16, together with Ambassador events, Ramona Mifsud and himself will be launching a new initiative to promote employees working in the Maltese iGaming community. This will consist of an awards gala dinner that will be called iGaming Idol. This event will be supported by as a lead sponsor together with the Malta Gaming Authority, NetEnt and others to be announced shortly.

The awards event will be the first of its kind in the iGaming industry and are aimed at recognising individuals and is open to males and females in every sector of an iGaming operation. Employers or colleagues will be able to nominate outstanding individuals working within an iGaming company. Nominees of the award will then have to prove themselves in front of a panel of expert judges and will be drilled on a number of tasks that are relevant to their job description. iGaming Idol has been built on three pillars, namely recognition of employees, charity – from each ticket there will be a donation to the Malta Community Chest Fund – and entertainment, thereby promising to be an evening for the best of the best in the iGaming Industry. The event will take place on November 8, the first night of MiGS and will be held in the Grand Masters Suite, Hilton Malta.

The Malta iGaming Seminar was the first iGaming seminar ever to be held in Malta in 2009 and today it has become one of the most important iGaming conferences in the world and an integral part of the iGaming Calendar. Last year the event attracted over 450 delegates with over 300 individuals travelling from Europe, Middle East, Asia, South Africa and the Americas.

The seminar attracts C-Level delegates and creates a discussion forum for top management and owners of iGaming operations, service providers, and Government entities. These debates help to further enhance their knowledge of the ever changing online gambling landscape.
