The British Poker Awards: Spotlight Falls on Poker’s Social Media Elite

2013logo_1608.png 26 February 2014, London, UK (Press Release) – Social interaction is a big part of poker, and The British Poker Awards (www.thebritishpokerawards.com) is set to recognise this by handing out an award for Social Media User of the Year.

The awards, organised by Bluff Europe Magazine and sponsored by PokerStars.com, pits four of poker’s most talkative individuals up against a corporate account which is anything but corporate in tone.

The @betfairpoker Twitter account has been known for its surreal social media activity, but to win the award it will have to get past players known for being active on and off the felt.

Both Sam Grafton and Sam Razavi are huge characters at the tables and the same goes for their exploits on social media, attracting thousands of followers with their witty observations on poker and life.

While Grafton and Razavi represent the new generation of UK poker, the other two nominees are both aiming to be the first two-time winner of the Social Media User of the Year award.

2011 champion and PokerStars Team Pro Victoria Coren is known for expertly interspersing comments on politics and entertainment with updates from live and online tournaments.

And the final nominee, last year’s winner Neil Channing, is known for supporting grassroots poker via his Twitter account, while engaging in debate about poker table etiquette and the industry-at-large.

The British Poker Awards will take place on March 3rd at the Hippodrome Casino, with guests treated to an exclusive cocktail party, awards ceremony and bounty poker tournament with a seat at the Hippodrome Spring Classic at stake.

A number of top pros have confirmed there attendance, and poker enthusiasts wishing to join them for the biggest night on the UK poker calendar can buy tickets from the Hippodrome website.
