28 October 2010 (London, UK): iGB Espana 2010 will be holding two special focus conference sessions on the iGaming Latin American market in Madrid 5th – 6th November. The sessions will look at the opportunities and the two major issues facing this growing market, specifically player acquisition and payment solutions. A region of great contrast, in terms of geography, demographics and socio-economics, each country varies greatly in terms of development and iGaming market maturity.
“The Latin American market is of great importance for the gambling industry and one which has great potential for the future” Javier Waldman, Accounts Director and New Business, 888.com, commented “I’m glad to be presenting on such an interesting subject at iGB Espana, especially when you consider the major changes in the area in recent years. I will equally be looking at the developments in the acquisition process in LATAM, the challenges faced and how to overcome them.”
The LatAm market is not without its perils; the online gambling markets have been facing the same uncertainties as their land based cousins, from sudden regulatory changes, to shifts in political attitude and a difficult operational environment. However with some markets, including Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and Peru, enjoying a significant broadband penetration rate and a growing techno savvy population, Javier Waldman has reason to be optimistic. Nevertheless it often takes local partners to help with establishing successful payments methods as credit cards can be rare in Latin America. Joao Cohen, Partner, Latambilling, Jesús Pérez Batlles , E-Commerce and Deputy Director Pleiteando.com and Vicente Linares, Country Manager España, Portugal & Latin America, Click & Buy, will all be looking at the two prominent questions affecting payments in the area: Which payment solutions are paving the way in South America? And how is the gap being breached?
