British Poker Awards Attracts Thousands of Voters

logo-160.png23rd August 2012 (LONDON, UK)- The British Poker Awards is the awards show where the public gets to decide the winners and it has already attracted thousands of votes since the voting went live, announced the organisers today. And Poker fans still have until mid-September to cast their votes at www.thebritishpokerawards.com, where they can pick their favourites from a number of categories, including Best Tournament Player, Best Cash Player, Best Online Player and Poker Personality of the Year.

The nominees in each category have been decided by a judging panel that includes Bluff Europe, PokerNews.com, PokerListings.com, PokerStrategy.com and “The Voice of Poker” himself, Jesse May. Tickets for the ceremony itself, which will be held aboard the HMS President in London on 17th September, are available at www.thebritishpokerawards.eventbrite.co.uk for £20 each.

Former award-winner Neil Channing said, “I’m hoping September 17th will be the highlight of my month. The old mantelpiece is already doing a fair bit of creaking but it could come under severe pressure after the British Poker Awards.”

American pro Antonio Esfandiari, a former presenter of the British Poker Awards said: “It’s a great way to bring in the players and celebrate in people’s triumphs. Poker is such a big thing, it needs to have an awards show.”

About British Poker Awards (www.thebritishpokerawards.com):
The British Poker Awards and the Irish Poker Awards are separate annual events created in order to honour the best poker players, leagues, clubs and tournaments in the UK and Ireland. Organised by Bluff Europe, in association with several other media outlets to ensure impartiality, nominees are chosen by a committee of journalists, before being put to public online vote. Players and industry figures are then invited to attend an awards presentation ceremony.
