iGaming Business Social Monitor reveals the online bookmakers who created the biggest social buzz around the Cheltenham Festival

igb-logo-160.jpg 20th March 2015, London, UK (Press Release) –iGaming Business Social Monitor has analysed what online bookmakers got up to in terms of social media activity during the Cheltenham Festival. They were busy creating social buzz before, during and after the horse racing event, but it was Paddy Power who created the most buzz.

Joakim Nilsson, who heads up the iGaming Business Social Monitor, commented: “Paddy got the largest share-of-voice with its #CheltMental hashtag and its humour and sometimes surreal posts on Twitter, as shown by the example below. I would say that Bet365’s buzz was mostly led by affiliates trying to sign up customers via Twitter and Betfair pushed a lot of marketing messages. Coral also had a fair amount of mentions from what we’d call real customers.”

Leading up to the Cheltenham festival we looked at which bookmaker got the most buzz around the race. From the beginning of March we can see that bookmakers were pushing campaigns out to gain traction and raise their profile.

Leading up to the event, the most talked about topics across the industry centred around Ruby Walsh, De Sceaux and Annie Power. These were then replaced by ‘Free bet’, ‘Coral Cup’ and Paddy Power’s #CheltMental tag during the event. The Gold Cup then took over the social charts.
