Poker Super-Stars Square off at the British Poker Awards

2013logo_1603.png 14 February 2014, London, UK (Press Release) — Some of the most recognisable faces on the UK poker scene are hoping to parlay their 2013 successes at The British Poker Awards (www.thebritishpokerawards.com) at London’s Hippodrome Casino on March 3rd where one will emerge with the title “Performance of the Year”.

Barny Boatman is hoping his $500,000+ win at the WSOP will see him take top honours, but so does three-category nominee Matt Ashton, who defeated Don Nguyen heads-up to win the prestigious Poker Players Championship for more than $1.7m

Also nominated in the category is Matt Perrins, whose strong performance in 2013 included the biggest score of his career at the WSOP, a second career bracelet, and earnings of nearly $800,000.

David Vamplew and Stephen Chidwick fell just short of their debut bracelets, but both nominees also had stellar performances in Las Vegas. Chidwick cashed in nine separate events, making two final tables, and Vamplew’s two second place finishes in the space of a month earned him more than three quarters of a million dollars.

“2013 was a special year for British players at the World Series of Poker, and there is little to choose between the five nominees,” said Michael Caselli, editor-in-chief of Bluff Europe Magazine.

“To see five British players each winning more than half a million dollars shows the depth of talent in the UK, and all five will be hungry to repeat their success this year.”

The British Poker Awards, organised by Bluff Europe and sponsored by PokerStars.com, will take place on March 3rd at the Hippodrome Casino in London’s West End. Voting on the Readers’ Choice categories is closed, but tickets are now available for members of the public wishing to attend at the Hippodrome website.

About The British Poker Awards (www.thebritishpokerawards.com)

Organised by Bluff Europe, in association with several other media outlets including Pokernews, PokerStrategy and CalvinAyre.com to ensure impartiality, nominees are chosen by a committee of journalists, before being put to public online vote.
